There may be times when you want to simply e-mail News or Pages content into your space, without having to open a browser and log in.
Locate Appropriate Email Address for Submitting Content
To contribute a news article or a new page by email, you first need to know what email address to send to:
- Log into your space
- Click on the News tab or the Pages tab
- Look at the bottom of the sidebar on the right for "Email contributions to..."
Emailing a Wiki Page
For example, if you wanted to e-mail in a new wiki page, you would:
- Open a new email
- In the "To:" type in the email address associated with the Pages tab
- In the "Subject:" type the text for the title of the news article or wiki page
- In the body, type the text that you want on your page
- To apply catagories to your content, use wiki syntax. For example, to catagorize your content in the "Documentation" and "Tips" catagories, type this into your email
- To apply tags to your content, use wiki syntax. For example, to tag your content as "wiki" and "guide", type this into your email
- Click on "Send"

Whether it goes to a page or to news depends on which of these two tags is active. kdn at newsong
This is a great feature. I've not used it much up until now, but it is a real time saver for many communications tasks.
Thanks.
Actually – whether it is posted as a wiki page or a news item is determined by the email address you submit them to. The bracketed indicators above determine what categories and tags are applied to the submission.
To submit a "page" to your space send the email to pages@your-space.near-time.net
To submit a "news" item to your space send the email to news@your-space.near-time.net

Is it only possible to email to either of these two links from an email address that is configured in the system? I want to use one email address for logging in and another email address (gmail) to send articles into the news page.
Thanks,
Oliver
Currently it only works with the email we have on file for you. However, it is not too difficult to set up Gmail to use multiple email addresses and then change the ‘from’ email address to match the one you registered with. See this gmail help

Evencategorizing and tagging is straightforward by using the double square brackets. As in
This can be great for managers that don't have time to learn a new system.
Here is one Gotcha:
In email using the To: and cc: fields works.
Using the Bcc: field DOES NOT WORK.
Question to the Near-Time team: Is this how it is designed to work? I am assuming yes, because the Near-Time Shared Space email address might not appear in the email message if a bcc: is used.
You may want to point this fact out in the help information.
