You can export the entire content of your space onto your own computer via zip file.  This is a handy for working on your space off-line.  It is also recommended that you export the contents of your space when closing a space

The export function provides:

  • XML version of the entire space
  • All file attachments

Export Space Contents:

To export the contents of your space:

  1. Click on the "Manage" button in the upper right corner on the banner for your space
  2. Click on the "Appearance" button
  3. Look in right sidebar for the "Export Space" section
  4. Click "Advanced Options" to choose sections of the space to not download
  5. Click "Export"
  6. You will receive an email upon completion.

The process of assembling and then downloading an entire space can be time-consuming.  Depending on the amount of information in your space it could take more than a few minutes.  You will receive an email once the space export has been completed.  There will be a link in the email to download the zip file.  A link to the zip file will also appear at the bottom of the "Export Space" section in the sidebar.

Can you import content into a space?

For example, if I were a college reunion events planner, it would be slick to use Near-Time spaces as participation tools.  In this scenario, I'd want to perform a couple of tasks after each spring's graduation:

    • Create a space for the new class of alumni
    • Upload a core set of content into the space (i.e. events, wiki pages, etc)

    Thanks,
         Rusty
