The navigational tabs allow access to the features and tools of a space. Tabs can be displayed or hidden. Additionally, the ability to change the tab name and destination (even linking to external URLs, such as another space or website) is available as an advanced option.
Features Associated with Tabs
- News: recent news list, ability to create a new article
- Pages: Home page (default or category view), ability to create a new page, list of all pages, list of recent changes
- Forums: ability to create forums and topics
- Tasks: list of all tasks, ability to create new tasks
- Files: list of all files, ability to upload files and store them in folders
- Events: calendar layout, ability to add events to the calendar
- Members: listing of members associated with a space, ability to view member profiles, send invitations, send email to all members
- Overview: access to recent activities in a space, or analytics
Basic Options
To display or hide features (available for all plans):
- Click on the "Manage" button in the upper right corner on the banner for your space
- Click on the "Appearance" button
- Scroll down to the "Tabs" section
- Uncheck the box next to an item to hide the tab, or check the box next to an item to show the tab
- Click "Save"
Advanced Options
To display or hide features, change the tab name, customize the destination and/or add a link to another space or an external website, or change the order of the tabs in the navigation bar:
- Click on the "Manage" button in the upper right corner on the banner for your space
- Click on the "Appearance" button
- Scroll down to the "Tabs" section
- Click on "Show Advanced Options"
Show or Hide Tabs:- Uncheck the box next to an item to hide the tab, or check the box next to an item to show the tab
- Either keep the existing name of the tab or type in a new name
- Either keep the default destination of the tab, or choose a new one from the drop-down
- The bottom tab allows you to choose to link to either another space or an external website.
- To link to an external link, choose "External URL" from the drop-down and type in the URL in the field.
- To link to another space, choose the space name from the drop-down.
- Click on the arrows to move a tab to the left (up) or right (down); the destination of the leftmost tab is the default entry point for the base URL of a space.
- Click "Save"
Note: If the "Members" tab is not displayed, managers can still access the member information by clicking on the "Manage" button, then clicking on the "Appearance" icon. Look in the right sidebar for the "Members" section and click on the "Members" button. You can now access the members information.
